Cobalt Biosorption in Fixed-Bed Column Using Greenhouse Crop Residue as Natural Sorbent

Intensive greenhouse agriculture annually produces large amounts of residues. The present work focused on the study dynamic adsorption cobalt from aqueous solutions over a vegetal residue intensive cultivation. influence three operating variables, feed-flow rate, inlet concentration and bed height, was analyzed. According to results, variable that particularly affected percentage adsorbed rate. results were also fitted an adaptive neuro fuzzy system (ANFIS) model predict choose most favorable conditions. Results evaluated using root mean squared error (RMSE), coefficient determination (R2) other typical statistic factors as performance parameters. experimental outputs displayed acceptable result for ANFIS, providing R2 values higher than 0.999 both removal (%) biosorption capacity (mg/g). In addition, showed best conditions maximize 4 mL/min 25 mg/L 11.5 cm bed-height.
